Grey clouds cast
their shadows down.
Once mighty trees lie
shattered on the ground.
Behold the scars of the earth,
as machines defile the natural world.
An ancient forest watches
as its end approaches.
Smoke blackens the sky,
while a thousand riotcops arise.
Armed to the teeths,
scum in blue protects the thieves.
The guts of the land are ripped out.
Yet, tiny flowers are blooming everywhere.
Small signs of resistance sprout.
They cover old bark and mighty root.
Silent watchers gather, masked in black.
within a fortress built into the highest trees.
We stand strong to save the Earth.
We'll hold our ground to heal this world.
“Save the Earth First!”
is written on our banners.
No coal, no clearcut!
Not now, not ever!
No coal, no clearcut!
Not now, not ever!
We block the roads and put our bodies on the line.
We dig trenches and stand guard among the pines.
While my heart is on fire
I stare into the eyes of the machine.
I won't back down.
won't step aside.
I feel alive
for the first time.
I'll make no compromise
in defense of the Earth.
I am determined
to fight for a better world.
Destruction is the work
of a single afternoon.
To come into bloom
might take a lifetime.
One of many releases I missed last year, and boy is this hitting hard now that I found it. Very similar to Morrow, which I love, but much quicker in getting the point across without losing any of the impact. Really great stuff. Dementicus
